We provide around a  hundred different roles. As well as the milk processing, collection or production support business lines, we cover quality expertise, maintenance, product sales, innovation plus research and development.

We contribute to the economic vitality of rural areas with sites located in the very heart of collection areas.

Since the Group was founded, Lactalis has brought consumers our dairy and cheesemaking expertise to provide healthy and tasty products that everyone can enjoy. The company is committed to protecting, sharing and promoting that expertise.

A LEARNING COMPANY COMMITED TO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Every employee can develop their expertise and responsibilities within the Group in a structure that supports their growth and offers numerous opportunities for internal promotion. Cultivating entrepreneurship, Lactalis encourages initiatives and sets day-to-day challenges.

Continuing professional development has a central place in employee career plans with nearly two million training hours provided each year. In 2022, Lactalis also developed a digital training platform with a Learning Factory. It contains over 250 programmes. In 2022, 49,000 training hours were completed via that tool.

  • Soon after joining the Group, employees follow an induction programme to gain a solid understanding of our company and its ecosystem, but also to start building their internal network. It includes meetings, site visits (creameries and dairies) as well as time allocated to learn about our products. This Group induction is devised in France and available in the countries. In 2022, 400 new employees took part.

  • Lactalis is keen to share the Group’s knowledge and expertise. In 2022, we offered over 7,800 positions to recent graduates so that they also have the opportunity to try the Lactalis Experience.

    In France, the company trains over 1,000 students every year, of whom 50% are offered a position at the end of the contract.

    Our sites are also our schools. We are parties to numerous international partnerships (ESCP Business School, École Supérieur des Agricultures d’Angers, Institut Agro de Rennes – Angers, Réseau des Écoles Nationales de l’Industrie Laitière) enabling the acquisition of new skills in the classroom and training in processing procedures in the Group’s creameries and dairies.

  • As early as 2016, Lactalis launched ‘career’ programmes to educate young people on cheesemaking techniques and traditions. The Maintenance Academy, Cheese Academy and Industrial Academy give participants an intercultural experience, taste of international mobility and training on one of our sites around the world. The topics covered in the academies are reviewed by the Group’s experts and foster improvement.

    Cheese Academy: five one-week sequences over a year – developing cheesemaking expertise and learning cheesemaking techniques. In partnership with the ENIL network, our R&D Department and manufacturing experts provide mentoring on our European sites.

    Maintenance Academy: eight one-week sequences over a year. Positioning the Maintenance business line as a contributor to our sites’ profitable and responsible performance in the form of action learning, organized in all geographic areas where the Group operates.

    Industrial Academy: six sequences over a year; improving our sites’ profitable and responsible performance in the form of action learning, organized in all areas. 160 people have been trained since 2016.
